Rain on 14th Asian Television Awards (ATA) Winners

Rain on 14th Asian Television Awards (ATA) Winners. Hallyu star Rain, a documentary on the life and career of the Korean wave star took home three awards at the 14th Asian Television Awards (ATA) held in Singapore. More, his first major Hollywood movie, ''Ninja Assassin'', was released worldwide and has so far grossed $34 million in the US.

Discovery Channel Asia-Pacific's documentary ''Hip Korea: Rain'' won the Best in Cross-Platform Content at the ATA. It was also a runner-up in the Best Music Program and Best Infotainment Program categories.

The documentary focused on Rain's rise to stardom and his ventures into acting and fashion design business.

Rain said ''Ninja Assassin'' was a dream come true.

''This movie helped me dream. My first try was successful. If I keep rising to new challenges, my movies will top the box office someday. I'm not holding my hopes high this time. If my movie enters the top five, it'll be success. I'm going to take it slow,'' said Rain in an interview with Korean TV station KBS.

Rain is one of the most popular celebrities in Korea and the rest of Asia. Last year, Rain launched his clothing line ''Six to Five.''

He debuted in the Korean music scene in 2002. In 2004, he starred together with actress Song Hye Kyo on the hit comedy series ''Full House'' that propelled his career. His albums and concerts are always a hit with fans.

The ATA gives awards to ''excellence in programming, production and performance.'' This year, 1,020 entries were received from Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

Best Drama Series - The Little Nyonya (MediaCorp Pte Ltd, Channel 8, Singapore)
and 1895 in Formosa (Hakka Television Station, Taiwan)

Best Single Drama or Television Programme - Easy Money (Hakka Television Station, Taiwan)
Best Comedy Program - The Iromonea (Tokyo Broadcasting System Television, Inc., Japan)
Best Current Affairs Program - Sunday Report: Sichuan Earthquake One Year On - The Unspeakable Truth (Television Broadcasts Limited, Hong Kong)
