Angel Locsin: Portray real life Filipino heroine Gregoria de Jesus

Angel Locsin: Portray real life Filipino heroine Gregoria de Jesus. Prizewinning director Mario O'Hara is looking for an actress who can perfectly portray real life Filipino heroine Gregoria de Jesus in his new film that will tackle the life of Andres Bonifacio. And he wants Locsin to play Bonifacio's wife.

It is a role that comes just once in a lifetime and Angel Locsin doesn't want to let the offer go.

Ang Paglilitis” is a documentary drama that will feature a court hearing on Emilio Aguinaldo's participation on Bonifacio's death. It has been chosen as one of the grantees to the newly opened division, Open Category for established Filipino directors, of the 6th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.

“I want Angel Locsin to play the part. It is tailor made for her,” exclaimed O'Hara.

There is one question, though.

“Can we afford her talent fee?” asked the internationally acclaimed film artist.

It is quite known in the local film industry that independent filmmaking works on a shoestring budget that also covers the actor's asking price. Locsin is one of the biggest paid artists in the entertainment industry.

When we brought up the idea to her a few days ago, the young actress easily quipped: “Napapag-usapan naman po 'yon.”

Obviously, Locsin was very interested in the offer.

“Sa contract ko naman po, may option to do a project outside my studio,” she clarified.

“Sige po, gusto ko po 'yan. Sabihin mo po sa kanila na makipag-usap na sa manager ko,” she egged on very excitedly.

What really made Locsin very happy about the movie offer, aside from the rare opportunity to work with artist O'Hara, was her penchant for history and its importance in our lives.

“Maganda po 'yan. Kasi, ngayon po, hindi na alam ng marami ang ating history. I want to be part of a film na nagpapaalala sa ating kasaysayan na hindi pa natin alam,” she professed.

When we informed O’Hara about Locsin's reaction, he was also very excited.

“Miracles are happening in my film. That's what I need. Things are really falling in their proper places. That's what I call miracle,” he said.

“When I was doing most of Nora Aunor's films, there were always miracles and I work best under these circumstances,” he chuckled.

He's currently doing his homework on Locsin.
