Another Filipino rescued from collapsed supermarket in Haiti. A second Filipino civilian was rescued from the rubble of a collapsed supermarket in Haiti, three days after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated the country.

Rescued was Filipino worker Grace Fabian who was reported to have been trapped inside the Caribbean Supermarket in Port-au-Prince.

“Grace Fabian has been rescued from the rubble in the Caribbean Supermarket area in Port-au-Prince,” said Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Eduardo Malaya. He said rescue workers earlier saved Filipino worker Aurora Aguinaldo from the rubble of the same building.

Aside from Aguinaldo and Fabian, Filipino peacekeeper Army Corporal David Catacutan was also rescued from the Montana Hotel on Thursday.

Malaya said five Filipinos in the city still await rescue including 3 Filipino peacekeepers, a staff member of the United Nations and a Filipino community worker.

The 3 Peacekeepers are identified as Army Sergeant Eustacio Bermudez, Air Force Sergeant Janice Arocena and Navy Petty Officer 3 Pearlie Panagui. They are believed trapped on the 2nd floor of the collapsed Hotel Christopher in the same city.

Another Filipina, Geraldine Calican, is still trapped under the Caribbean Supermarket, the DFA said.

Another Filipino, Jerome Yap, was also identified as among those still unaccounted for. Yap is the administrative officer of the Principal Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Haiti. He is one of 35 to 40 Filipinos working as international staff of the United Nations, the DFA said.
